Bolivian Recipes: Alfajores with Dulce de Leche
Alfajores are a popular South American pastry, consisting of two cookies typically filled with a cream made from Dulce de Leche and often decorated with coconut flakes.
INGREDIENTS FOR ALFAJORES WITH DULCE DE LECHE

1 cup of flour
- 2 cups of cornstarch
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon of baking powder
- 5 tablespoons of soft butter
- 4 egg yolks
- Milk as needed
- 1 pinch of salt
- Dulce de Leche
- Coconut Crumble (grated)

PREPARATION OF ALFAJORES WITH DULCE DE LECHE
- 1. Combine flour, cornstarch, sugar, a pinch of salt, and baking powder in a bowl.
- 2. Add the butter and the egg yolk along with some milk. Mix with a spoon and gradually add milk as needed.
- 3. Knead everything well. The kneading takes about 4-5 minutes, it is very easy.
- 4. Roll out the dough as smoothly as possible on kitchen paper or a cloth.
- 5. Use round shapes to cut out the lids of the Alfajores. The dough has a thickness of about ½ cm. Alternatively, a round glass can also be used.

6. Place the cut-out lids on a paper towel or a baking sheet greased with butter.
- 7. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees and then bake for 10 minutes.
- 8. Take two Alfajores tops and spread them with Dulce de Leche (caramel) so that they stick together. Finally, dip the Alfajores in grated coconut. Done.
