K'oa from Bolivia
At K'oa, it is an Andean ritual from Bolivia. It is an offering to Pachamama, Mother Earth.
In the K'oa bowl, among other things, is the aromatic herb from Bolivia of the same name: Koa (also: Khoa).
Additionally, the offering bowl contains brightly painted ornaments and sugar figures that represent the wishes for love, money, a good harvest, or a journey.
The offering bowl is lit, for example, on New Year's Eve or before special events in honor of Pachamama, in the hope that one's wishes will come true.
It is also used for the blessing of a new apartment, a new business, or a new car.
In order for the K'oa to burn better, it may be moistened with alcohol or spirits. The ash is not discarded, but buried.
